(5) Places to see- Ropeway at Dudh Talai Lake

The latest tourist attraction at Udaipur is a Ropeway which connects Dudh Talai Garden to Karni Mata temple. The temple, situated on a hill presents a breath taking bird’s eye view of Udaipur. On one side is the bustling city of Udaipur and on the other is the view of the Dudh Talai and the Pichola Lakes. Lake Palace and Jag Mandir situated on islands in the Pichola lake present an exhilarating view which gets phenomenally magnified at night. Also clearly visible is The City Palace and the Udai Vilas Hotel (Named as the best hotel of the world by Travel + Leisure magazine in 2006).

A multi-cuisine Restaurant is an additional reason to stay longer on top of the hill and enjoy the natural beauty around. The government charges a nominal fee of Rs. 60 per adult and Rs. 30 for each kid for the ropeway. Following the success the ropeway has had, the government of Rajasthan plans to build Amusement Park at Gulab Bagh garden and facilitiesfor power-gliding and para-sailing in Udaipur.

(4) Places to see - Saheliyon ki Badi

Situated to the eastern embankment of Fatehsagar lake is “Sahelion-ki-badi” which literally translates to Honoured Girls' Garden . It was renovated by Maharana Fateh Singh after the original garden was washed away.

The garden boasts of large flower beds, lush lawns, well laid courtyards and a large Lotus pool studded with water fountains. These fountains are guarded by four marble elephants – each elephant sculptured out of a single piece of white marble stone !!

The garden has a large number of fountains, which when in action, is a sight to behold. The fountains create rain-like sounds with the water sprouted from the White elephants trunks and falling on large lotus flowers, finally cascading from the circular eaves of the pavilion and ending up in the huge water pool. These fountains work on the gravitational energy principle and don’t use conventional sources of energy which in itself is an architectural marvel.

The garden is one of the main attractions of the City and is particularly popular with international tourists. It is also pretty popular with cine-film shooters and has contributed considerably to the scenic beauty in a number of films.
