A 25 minute enchanting uphill drive through Sajjangarh Wildlife sanctuary takes you to Sajjangarh Palace, located at the peak of Bansdara Mountain about 950 meters above the sea level. The palace was constructed by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1883 and it used to be the monsoon resort for the Maharajas. It was build as an observatory to watch the progress of the monsoon clouds over the surrounding areas. It is said that the Maharana had planned to build a nine storey observatory here but his dreams remained unfulfilled owing to his untimely death at the age of 26.

The palace overlooks two lakes - Fateh Sagar Lake and Lake Pichola and offers a picturesque view of the Lake city of Udaipur. The Bansdara Hill situated within the park offers stunning views of the sun setting and rising over the horizon.
The jungle trail through the Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary is hot favorite with wildlife enthusiasts and adventure freaks. The Sajjangarh Sanctuary is home to a variety of animals like the Panther, Hyena and Jackal. The sanctuary also boasts of many exotic species like the Nilgai, Chital, Sambar and Wild Boar. The avian population is also well represented by a number of local and migratory birds. Besides, the park is also home to a variety of reptiles and insects. The Sanctuary offers excellent opportunities for safaris, treks and nature walks.
